Verena's Story.

Praise the Lord! Let all that I am praise the Lord.

I will praise the Lord as long as I live.

I will sing praises to my God with my dying breath.

Psalm 146:1-2

"I have always believed that there is a superior being and life does not end with death.

I was born into a non-Christian family, my parents sent me and my sister to Sunday school so they could have a peaceful Sunday.

My Mother died when I was 15 and I wish I had had some sort of faith in those devastating days and years following.

I met my future husband John when I was 16 and we married 2 years later.  John had a faith and attended church,

sometimes I would go with him.  But the change came when we moved to Brackley 15 years ago to be near our daughter Caroline.  John was baptized 5 years later in this church I think this started my journey to finding my faith.

Eighteen months ago my life changed forever, John had a knee replacement which was successful.  But 6 weeks later he suffered a non-operable bleed on the brain and we were told he had days to live.  So I contacted our Minister Mat who I knew John had a deep respect and admiration for. He came to John's bedside straightaway.  Prayers were said with myself and our daughters . Then followed continuous prayers from Mat and all the congregation of this  church.

I think these prayers were the start of a miracle and 6 weeks later John  returned home to recover.

I felt so much warmth and love from this church that I wanted to be part of it.  The next step was to join the Alpha Group run by David Smith with Mat's back-up.  This Group taught me so much about Jesus and his life and death that I wanted to be a Christian.  I was asked at this group would I like to be baptized the next year on Easter Sunday and I said YES.

So here I am thanks to Mat and all the friends here and especially God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit Amen"
